Bale arrival looks to signal end to Benzema’s Real career.
Arsenal target Karim Benzema is looking increasingly likely to leave Real Madrid this January as he looks to have fallen down the pecking order at the Bernabeu following the arrival of Gareth Bale, according to Sports Direct News.
The French striker has started the season in good form for Carlo Ancelotti’s side, scoring four goals and providing three assists in his opening seven matches, but looks set to be dropped to the bench this weekend as Bale is in line for a start against rivals Atletico Madrid.
Injuries and a lack of fitness in general have hampered Bale’s start to life in Madrid, but the £85m signing is likely to become first choice for the club upon returning to full fitness, and his signing led to a number of players linked with exits over the summer.
Benzema was linked with a move to Arsenal towards the end of the transfer window, as was Angel Di Maria, while Mesut Ozil eventually made the move to the Emirates Stadium as he felt he wouldn’t get regular playing time after the signing of the former Tottenham winger.
Real are hoping to strengthen further in January, and it has been suggested that they would be keen to replace Benzema with Liverpool star Luis Suarez.
