Manchester United manager David Moyes is allegedly a fan of Inter Milan midfielder Fredy Guarin, according to the player’s agent, the Daily Express reports.

The 27-year-old has been a top performer for both Inter and his former club Porto in recent years, and has seemingly emerged as a potential candidate to solve United’s current problems in midfield.

A strong and intelligent box-to-box player, Guarin could provide Moyes’ side with a bit more bite in the middle of the park, as well as with some creativity badly missed by the side since the retirement of Paul Scholes at the end of last season.

The Premier League champions were linked with a whole host of big names for this position during the summer, though in the end they only managed to bring in Marouane Fellaini from Everton, and the Belgian has not enjoyed the best of starts to his Manchester United career.

Guarin’s contract with Inter expires in 2016, and although the Colombian’s agent says a renewal with the club is likely, he has also hinted at potential interest from United, saying that Moyes is a fan of his.

“Fredy is happy at Inter for several reasons,” he said.

“The possibility of renewal? I repeat, Fredy is happy here. He wants to try and win things here and that’s what he is working towards. His contract expires in 2016 and that’s all there is to it.

“Did Manchester United try to sign him? I can’t say, but David Moyes appreciates him. But for now his head is at Inter, and only Inter.”
