Arsenal head coach Arsene Wenger has paid prolific Swansea City front man Michu the ultimate compliment by comparing the Spaniard to former Gunners legend Dennis Bergkamp ahead of the two sides meeting in the Premier League on Saturday evening, according to reports in the Daily Mail.

The north London club travel to the Liberty stadium to take on the in-form Swans in front of the live Sky TV cameras looking to maintain their impressive start to the new campaign.

Wenger’s side currently sit joint top of the Premier League with city rivals Tottenham Hotspur after the opening five rounds of fixtures, and this despite Arsenal surprisingly losing their opening match to struggling Aston Villa at the Emirates.

However, the Frenchman knows that his side’s recent good form is sure to be tested in South Wales by both Michael Laudrup’s ever-improving outfit in general, and specifically by red-hot striker Michu, who has managed to net five goals already in total for the Swans in ten matches in all competitions so far this season, including two strikes in his five Premier League contests for the club.

And ahead of the eagerly anticipated clash in the Principality, Wenger has likened the 27-year-old Spaniard to one-time Gunners and Netherlands star forward Bergkamp in that neither player can be described as an out-and-out striker.

“I see him like a little bit, position-wise, like a Bergkamp, more than an up-front striker,” said Wenger.

“They can play with both [strikers] because Michu’s the kind of striker who is a midfielder as well. He can play both positions, that’s why they are 4-4-1-1 or you can call that a 4-4-2 when Wilfried Bony plays.”
