Arsenal have been surprisingly linked with a move to sign AC Milan striker Mario Balotelli with the Daily Mail suggesting that the Italian international could be available for as little as £12m.

The troubled forward has been handed a three match ban following his abusive and threatening attack on a referee during his side’s recent defeat to Napoli and is apparently in danger of forcing AC Milan to consider offers for the former Man City man.

In playing terms Balotelli has been a big success since moving back to his native Italy, scoring 16 goals in 20 appearances, but the suggestion of his source is that the youngster is proving more trouble than he is worth, proving a disruptive influence on the San Siro side.

Arsenal would certainly benefit from a further striking addition as they currently depend a great deal on Olivier Giroud, especially with both Lukas Podolski and Theo Walcott experiencing injury concerns.

Arsene Wenger knows that Balotelli is a proven Premier League striker though he will be more than aware that the 23 year old can be something of a major headache and any potential move would have to take that element of the striker’s character.

Liverpool have also been linked with the AC Milan man but a move to Arsenal would appear more likely given their current position at the top of the Premier League table as well as their consistent presence in the Champions League picture.
