Italian set for first job since City sacking in May.Former Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini is reportedly in the final stages of negotiations ahead of taking charge of Turkish giants Galatasaray, according to Goal.com.

The 48-year-old, who has also enjoyed success in a spell as manager of Inter Milan, now appears to be the favourite for the job following the recent departure of Fatih Terim after a difficult start to the season.

Former Chelsea boss Roberto Di Matteo had also been strongly linked with the post, though Mancini now looks set to take on his first job in football since being sacked by Manchester City in May.

The Italian won the Premier League and FA Cup during his time at the Etihad Stadium, though his side were disappointing in his final campaign in charge, finishing second to rivals Manchester United in the Premier League and losing to underdogs Wigan in the FA Cup final, in a shock result that seemed to ultimately seal his fate.

Mancini had also recently expressed an interest in taking over as manager of the Italian national team after next summer’s World Cup, though that may now be off the cards as he looks to return to management in Turkey.
