Having pursued Yohan Cabaye during the summer, Arsenal could look to Newcastle again as they eye a move for their Dutch goalkeeper Tim Krul, according to the Daily Express.

Krul has been linked with the Gunners in the past after his impressive displays for Newcastle over the last few years, and the 25-year-old is on Arsene Wenger’s radar again as he seeks to bring in an improved option in goal.

Newcastle now seem to be targeting a move for £7m PSV Eindhoven goalkeeper Jeroen Zoet as a potential replacement for Krul as they brace themselves for possible January bids from both Arsenal and Serie A giants AC Milan.

With Arsenal failing to bring in the likes of Julio Cesar and Vicente Guaita over the summer, Wenger is still on the lookout for a ‘keeper to replace Wojciech Szczesny if his inconsistent form continues.

The Pole has been number one for Arsenal since the 2010/11 season, though he has not quite lived up to the potential he showed as a youngster, with some high-profile individual mistakes at points last year.

Emiliano Viviano has been brought in on a season-long loan from Palermo, though the Italian is thought to only be a backup measure.
