Tottenham youngster Andros Townsend has taken the unprecedented step of apologizing for his propensity to throw himself to the floor at the merest hint of a challenge according to the Daily Mirror.

The 22 year old was booked for taking a tumble against Chelsea, though did have a fine game all round, and has opted to take the very dignified step of apologizing for his actions, which is certainly a refreshing change.

Townsend stated;

“I deserved the booking. It was definitely a yellow card.

“I said to the ref at half-time, as I have come inside the leg was there and he has pulled out at the last minute and I still went over, so it was a deserved yellow card.

“Obviously I have got to kick it out of my game.

“I didn’t have time to react when he pulled his leg out of the way. It’s sort of instinct and things happen so fast.

“I apologised to the ref. I told him I thoroughly deserved it and hopefully I won’t do it again.”

Perhaps Ashley Young will take a leaf out of the England Under 21 international’s book and make a similar promise?
