Manchester City will be able to welcome midfielder David Silva back into the fold for the clash with Bayern Munich after he recovered from a thigh injury sustained whilst on international duty with Spain last month.

City are also likely to bring striker Sergio Aguero back Sergio Aguero, who was rested for the 3-2 defeat to Aston Villa last Saturday because of a minor knock, after he also returned to training.

Both clubs won their opening matches in this season’s campaign as City beat Viktoria Plzen 3-0 in the Czech Republic, while Bayern beat CSKA Moscow at home by the same scoreline.

City and Bayern have played each other twice competitively, both meetings taking place at the group stage in the Champions League in 2011 with both sides taking a 2-0 scoreline each.

The visitors will be without Spanish midfielders Thiago Alcantara and Javi Martinez, as well as defender Holger Badstuber, who has a knee ligament injury.

Mario Gotze has not featured for Guardiola’s side since the UEFA Super Cup last month in Prague because of an ankle injury, but reports have hinted that he will be included in the squad on Wednesday.
