Premier League trio Arsenal, Manchester City and Manchester United could be on alert to sign Valencia defender Adil Rami this summer, with the Daily Star reporting that Italian side Napoli have rejected the opportunity to take him on loan.

The French international was linked with a host of Europe’s top clubs during the summer, though no one managed to meet Valencia’s £9m valuation of the player.

However, his future at the Spanish club seems increasingly uncertain now after a falling out with the club’s manager over recent poor results and criticism of the decision to sell key duo Roberto Soldado and Alberto Costa during the summer transfer window.

Napoli were one of the clubs said to be keen on signing him, and had been offered the 27-year-old on a loan deal for the second half of the season, though Rafael Benitez is understood not to have chosen to take on this option.

The Serie A outfit are known to be tracking a central defender, having also been linked with Liverpool’s Martin Skrtel in recent times.

However, the likes of Arsenal and the two Manchester clubs may now move for Rami when the transfer window re-opens.
