England manager Roy Hodgson has named his squad for the two upcoming World Cup qualifiers against Montenegro and Poland.

Wayne Rooney has put an end to doubts over his fitness lately and has thus been included in the party to play after missing Manchester United’s 1-1 draw with Ukrainian side Shakhtar Donetsk on Wednesday.

“We are reliably informed that it’s not a serious injury and it won’t stop him joining up with us,” Hodgson said.

Hodgson is also hoping to finally be able to pair Rooney with in form Liverpool forward Daniel Strurridge, who has been included once again after missing the previous squad through injury.

The England manager said he was looking forward to seeing Rooney play alongside Sturridge.
