Injured West Ham United front man Andy Carroll could now be back in action quicker than previously expected, according to reports in the Daily Mail.

The massive England international damaged his heel right at the very end of last season, with the 24-year-old then suffering a further problem on his first day back in training earlier this campaign.

However, having consulted specialist Professor van Dijk about the problem on Tuesday, the east London club’s medical staff are said to now be confident that Carroll may be able to make a comeback to the first team before the end of the year.
