Roma are set to become the latest club linked with a move for unsettled Valencia defender Adil Rami, according to Forza Italian Football.

Reports suggest that manager Rudi Garcia is keen on a reunion with the French international centre-back, who played under him during their time together at Ligue 1 side Lille.

Garcia’s side currently lead Serie A after a perfect start to the season, though the boss is keen to continue to strengthen his side when the transfer window re-opens in January, with a defender supposedly top of his list.

Roma lost talented young defensive prospect Marquinhos to PSG during the summer, and could move for Rami as a replacement after the 27-year-old’s future at Valencia has become uncertain following a public spat with Los Che boss Miroslav Dukic.

The likes of Arsenal, Manchester City and Manchester United are also keen to sign Rami as they seek to strengthen their defences this January, though it is understood that Roma’s Serie A rivals Napoli have pulled out of a deal.

Roma look a club on the up at the moment, despite losing some key players in Erik Lamela and Pablo Osvaldo this summer, and may be an attractive prospect for Rami as he seeks a move to a bigger club ahead of next summer’s World Cup.
