Liverpool goalkeeper Jose Manuel Reina says that he would love to re-join Spanish giants FC Barcelona at the end of this campaign, according to reports on Goal.com.

The experienced Spain international is currently spending a season-long loan spell with Serie A high flyers Napoli after his parent club bought Simon Mignolet from Sunderland for £9 million earlier this summer.

However, Reina still has his heart set on returning to his boyhood club one day and with current Barca No 1 Victor Valdes set to quit Camp Nou at the end of this season, the shot stopper knows that there will be a goalkeeping vacancy to fill in Catalonia next summer.

“It would be great to return to Barcelona. I am very happy that my name’s being mentioned,” Reina told Catalunya Radio.

“Nothing has been signed, though. I assume that they have been talking with a lot of goalkeepers and have short listed a number of them. We will see what happens next year.”

Reina’s current contract with the Merseyside giants now runs until June 30 2016, however, it is understood that Reds head coach Brendan Rodgers would be willing to let the 31-year-old leave Anfield permanently at the end of this campaign due to the current success being enjoyed by the Spaniard’s replacement in goal on Merseyside, subject to the club’s asking price for the keeper being met that is.

Reina made 49 appearances in total for the Catalan giants in all competitions between 2000 and 2002, before moving to Liverpool in July 2005 from fellow Liga outfit Villarreal.
