Saint-Etienne defender on Arsene Wenger’s radar this January.
Arsenal are preparing a January bid for exciting young French defender Kurt Zouma, according to reports on Sports Direct News.
The supremely talented 18-year-old is attracting a great deal of interest ahead of the next transfer window, and could also spark bids from the likes of Manchester City and Manchester United, though working with Arsene Wenger may be appealing for the France Under-21 international.
The Gunners boss is well known for raiding his native France for top young talent and giving players with potential a chance at Arsenal, and Zouma may feel a move to the Emirates Stadium is the best choice for him to continue his development.
Arsenal are in need of defensive reinforcements, with the out-of-form Thomas Vermaelen the only current backup to first-choice pairing Per Mertesacker and Laurent Koscielny at the back, with right-back Bacary Sagna having to fill in centrally on several occasions so far this season.
Zouma may cost around £8m and looks a good investment as he seems set to become one of the world’s best defenders for many years to come, which will appeal to Wenger as he looks to build a team for the future at Arsenal.
