Emirates Stadium side look to strengthen defence with move for youngster.
Arsenal are reportedly keeping a close eye on Feyenoord youngster Bruno Martins Indi according to Sports Direct News.
The 21 year old defender has been a regular in the Feyenoord side since breaking into the first team in August 2010 and has already collected 11 Dutch national team caps and now the powerful adaptable youngster is attracting Arsene Wenger’s interest.
Indi can play at both centre-back and left-back and was a target for Everton boss Roberto Martinez, seen by the Toffees as a potential replacement for Leighton Baines.
Though Arsenal’s defence have been very solid thus far this term, both Per Mertesacker and Laurent Koscielny both being in impressive form, Wenger may see Indi as a good long term prospect and is readying a bid for the Portuguese born defender in January.
Former Arsenal man Giovanni van Bronckhorst, who is Feyenoord’s assistant boss, has talked up the possibility of a move away from the Eredivisie for Indi stating;
“He [Martins Indi] is very good – he is strong and has been in the first team for a couple of the years and is a regular with the national team.
“He will eventually take the step to a club in Europe and, of course, when the time comes and a player wants to leave, he will leave.
“We are happy to have him but we know we cannot compete with the top clubs in Europe.”
