Barcelona right-back Dani Alves has talked up talented Celtic goalkeeper Fraser Forster as a possible candidate to replace Victor Valdes at the Nou Camp next season, according to the Daily Record.

The Brazilian defender has been extremely impressed with what he’s seen from Forster in his recent displays against Barcelona in the Champions League, with the 25-year-old in particularly fine form in the most recent meeting between the two sides.

Despite Barcelona winning 1-0 at Celtic Park, Forster denied the visitors time and time again with some sensational stops, and could be on the club’s radar now as the Catalan giants will need to think about replacing current number one Valdes as he plans to leave the club at the end of his contract next summer.

Alves doesn’t know for sure if Barcelona are planning to sign the England ‘keeper, but has talked him up as having the required quality to play for the La Liga champions.

“Only the club can answer how accurate the reports are on the interest in Forster but if they are true it doesn’t surprise me,” he said.

“We have played Celtic three times in a year now and each time Forster has been fantastic.

“He has had to deal with the best attacking players in the world and each time he has done very well – even in the games Celtic lost.

“Barcelona are a club that are always looking to add quality and it’s clear Forster has real quality.

“Obviously no transfers can be done at the moment – but if it is a deal that ever happens then he’d be a good addition.”

Barcelona have also been linked with the likes of Thibaut Courtois and Pepe Reina in recent times, as they near facing the exit of Valdes after the Spaniard decided to end his long association with the club.
