New Manchester United head coach David Moyes is preparing to let unsettled midfield player Shinji Kagawa leave Old Trafford when the winter transfer window finally opens once again for business for the year in January, according to reports in the Mail on Sunday.

The highly rated Japan international has only been at Old Trafford now for just over a year, with Kagawa moving to the Premier League champions from Bundesliga giants Borussia Dortmund last June on a four-year deal for a fee of £17 million.

However, despite showing some initial promising signs at the ‘Theatre of Dreams’ in the previous season under the then United head coach Sir Alex Ferguson, Kagawa has barely featured in this campaign for new United manager David Moyes.

In fact, the 24-year-old has featured in only four matches in total in all competitions under the Scot so far this season, and only one of those came in the Premier League, which was last Saturday’s shock 2-1 loss to West Bromwich Albion at Old Trafford in the Premier League.

And now if reports in Portuguese paper A Bola are to be believed, the Japanese playmaker is set to return to his former club when the window reopens at the turn of the year, possibly in a swap deal involving Dortmund’s in-demand Serbia international Neven Subotic.
