Man United are planning a January move to lure German international midfielder Ilkay Gundogan to Old Trafford according to the Daily Star.

The 22 year old is now on David Moyes’s wish-list as he continues to seek additions to help freshen up his midfield and the Scot will be buoyed by the ongoing contract stalemate between the Gundogan and Borussia Dortmund.

Gundogan is currently sidelined with a back injury but is a pivotal member of Jurgen Klopp’s first team set-up with the former Nurnberg man making 44 appearances in all competitions last term and helping his side to a Champions League final in the process.

Moyes may feel that Gundogan could provide Man United with some much needed steel and the box to box performer is also adept at getting forward and is well known for his passing ability.

Though Marouane Fellaini arrived at Man United in the summer David Moyes could certainly do with further reinforcements not least as Anderson continues to struggle to make an impact and Darren Fletcher is still recovering from long term illness.

This source rates Gundogan at being worth £30m, which is quite some increase on the £4m Dortmund spent on the player just two and a half years ago.

Man United will be even more keen on such a move should they continue to find themselves some way off the Premier League title pace.
