Serie A leaders Roma could make a move for Manchester United left-back Patrice Evra this January, according to Inside Futbol.

Rudi Garcia’s side have enjoyed a terrific start to the season, winning all seven of their games so far in the Italian league, and looking like surprise contenders for the title this year.

However, Roma had to deal with some big-name departures from the Stadio Olimipco over the summer, with the likes of top-scorer Dani Osvaldo, star youngster Erik Lamela, and key defender Marquinhos all making big-money exits from the club.

The Rome side moved to bring in the likes of Kevin Strootman and Gervinho as replacements for their depleted squad, and they will continue to reinvest the money brought in when the transfer window re-opens in January, with Evra said to be one of their top targets.

The French international could be keen to leave Old Trafford, with manager David Moyes making it clear he doesn’t feature in his plans with the high-profile pursuit of Everton’s Leighton Baines over the summer, which could continue into January as well.

Evra may also welcome the chance to work with his fellow countryman Garcia, as he looks to be building an exciting team in the Italian capital.
