Arsenal Eye Shock January Swoop For Aston Villa Keeper

Gunners are still looking for a replacement for their Polish shot stopper.

Arsenal are understood to be interested in signing in-form Aston Villa goalkeeper Brad Guzan when the winter transfer window finally opens once again for business for the year in January, according to reports in the Metro.

The highly rated United States international has been in sensational form between the sticks for the west Midlands outfit ever since Villa head coach Paul Lambert controversially decided to drop experienced No 1 Shay Given in favour of Guzan early on in the 2012-13 campaign.

And the 29-year-old has not looked back ever since, with Guzan having since gone on to not only prove his manager right, but also establish himself as one of the stand-out shot stoppers currently plying their trade in the Premier League.

As a result, it really should come as no surprise whatsoever that the north London club have reportedly been keeping close tabs on Guzan of late, especially in light of the continued struggles of current Gunners first-choice keeper Wojciech Szczesny at the Emirates.

By all accounts, Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has sent his goalkeeping scout up to Villa Park on a number of occasions already this season to watch the American in action with a view to possibly making a move for Guzan in the new year.
