La Liga giants take interest in Parkhead striker.
Barcelona have been linked with a surprise interest in Celtic forward Giorgios Samaras according to El Mundo Deportivo.
The Catalan giants are reportedly looking to bring in an experienced marksman to act as a strong supporting member for their star-studded attack. Among the names on the short-list are Lazio veteran Miroslav Klose, Benfica forward Oscar Cardozo and Malaga’s Roque Santa Cruz.
Whilst a move to bring in Samras is perhaps one you’d imagine would bank you a massive windfall depending on the sports betting odds it is perhaps also one that would serve Gerardo Martino well in Barcelona’s pursuit of multiple trophies.
Samaras is a real fans favourite at Celtic and has proven a very wise purchase. The Greek international moved to the Glasgow club on an initial loan spell in January 2008, after a poor time of it at Man City, and has been a hugely successful purchase, said to have cost the SPL side somewhere between £1m and £3m.
The 28 year old has scored 68 goals for Celtic in 226 appearances and has helped the club to three SPL titles, perhaps the fact that he managed to net against Barcelona last October is key to the Catalan club’s interest.
