Barca to try for Lazio forward in January transfer window.
Barcelona have been linked with a surprise move to sign veteran Lazio and Germany striker Miroslav Klose in the January transfer window, according to Sports Direct News.
Barca manager Gerardo Martino is reportedly keen on bringing a traditional-style centre forward to the Nou Camp, with 35-year-old penalty box poacher Klose certainly signalling a change in approach from the likes of Lionel Messi, Neymar and Alexis Sanchez, who all operate in more versatile roles as half-wingers.
The German international has been renowned as one of the world’s most prolific strikers over the last decade, and recently joined the legendary Gerd Muller in becoming his country’s leading scorer at international level.
Klose joined Lazio in 2011, and has scored 32 goals in 75 games for the Serie A club, and Barcelona may feel he is a good short-term option and could land him on the cheap this January as his contract with the Italian club expires next summer.
Barcelona have enjoyed success with this type of signing before, as they brought in Swedish forward Henrik Larsson on a free from Celtic in the twilight years of his career, and he became an influential member of the team as they won two La Liga titles in a row and the Champions League in 2006.
