German International Marc-Andre Ter Stegen Remains Barcelona First Choice Keeper Target

Barcelona are reportedly still keen on bringing Marc-Andre Ter Stegen to the club as the eventual replacement for Victor Valdes when he decides to move on at the end of the season, El Mundo Deportivo reports.

The Borussia Monchengladbach goalkeeper has been earning rave reviews in his native Germany since breaking into the side back in 2011 and has already collected three caps for the German national side in the process.

He had been the bookies favourite to sign for the Spanish champions this summer, but Valdes’ decision to backtrack and see out the remaining year of his deal at the Camp Nou meant that he stayed with the Bundesliga outfit.

There apparently is a deal in place between the two clubs over negotiations that will give Barcelona the first option over the 21-year-old and recent good performances against the likes of Borussia Dortmund have caught the eye of Tata Martinez and have made scouting staff return with glowing reports.

There are a number of goalkeepers, though, who are still hoping to convince the club to take a punt on them with the likes of Liverpool’s Pepe Reina and Chelsea’s Thibaut Courtois both recently expressing a desire to head to Catalonia.
