Chelsea defender Nathan Ake has admitted that he may be forced to leave the club on loan during the January transfer window, talkSPORT reports.

The 18-year-old made his Chelsea debut last term and ended up making six first-team appearances, featuring in a number of the club’s Champions League and Europa League encounters, but he is yet to appear under Mourinho since his return from Real Madrid.

Blues boss Mourinho has already loaned several of the clubs young stars out already this term, with most heading to their feeder club in the Eredivisie, Vitesse Arnhem, but he has refused to send Ake there too as he hoped to keep him in the UK in order to gain homegrown status.

However, he has revealed that he may have to seek out a loan move elsewhere after growing frustrated at the lack of opportunity afforded to him in west London.

He told Dutch newspaper AD: “I’m playing in the reserves, but that is still a high level. I’m still growing every day as a footballer.

“I’m still very young, but it is important for me to be playing in the future. Let’s see how it plays out until January and perhaps we will see if I can go on loan somewhere else.”
