West Brom manager Steve Clarke has played down speculation linking exciting young striker Saido Berahino with a move away from the club, Sky Sports reports.

The 20-year-old has reportedly caught the eye of some top clubs this season after some impressive displays for the Baggies, most notably including a well-taken winning goal against Manchester United at Old Trafford.

However, Clarke is determined to keep hold of this highly promising player, and has dismissed rumours that he could leave the club as mere speculation for the moment.

“It’s just speculation and the speculation is rubbish,” Clarke said.

“He’s under contract with West Brom until the end of next season, so we’ve got plenty of time to sort out Saido’s future.

“He’s a sensible boy. He understands that all the rewards and riches come with hard work and he has to just concentrate on his football and let other people worry about his contract situation and whatever.”
