Benfica winger Ivan Cavaleiro has played down talk linking him with a move to Premier League champions Manchester United, according to Sky Sports.

The 19-year-old is a reported target for David Moyes as he looks to freshen up his squad after missing out on a number of targets over the summer, and Cavaleiro has apparently caught the new boss’ eye whilst featuring for the Benfica first team last season.

The young Portuguese youth international has bagged seven goals in 10 appearances for the B team so far this term and United scouts are thought to have been over to Lisbon to cast an eye over him.

However, Cavaleiro has insisted that he is not interested in a move to England as he continues with his mission of establishing himself within the Benfica first team.

Although the youngster concedes he faces some fierce competition for a regular starting spot, he claims his love for the club will see him through as he looks to establish himself in the first-team.

“My job is to earn an opportunity for the first team and this depends on the coach,” Cavaleiro told radio station Antena 1. “There are very good strikers at Benfica and it is not easy to get into the first team.

“I have a contract until June 2018 and I feel good here.

“For me it’s a huge honour to represent Benfica because it’s the club of my heart. I want to continue here and succeed in the first team.”
