Valencia centre-back and Arsenal target Adil Rami is nearing a move to AC Milan, with Forza Italian Football reporting that the French international will undergo a medical with the San Siro club this weekend.
The 27-year-old is highly rated in La Liga after become one of the most solid defenders in Spain over the last few years, though he has been linked with a move away for some time now, with a recent falling out with manager Miroslav Dukic looking like sealing his exit from the Mestalla.
With Arsenal keen on signing a new central defender for some time, it was thought that Arsene Wenger could look to bring Rami to the Emirates Stadium this January, though Milan now seem increasingly likely to win the race for his signature.
Rami will move on an initial six-month loan deal with a view to a permanent move next season, with Manchester City said to be another club who had looked at signing him.
Both Arsenal and City may now turn to Saint-Etienne youngster Kurt Zouma as an alternative, with the talented 18-year-old attracting serious attention in recent times after some superb displays in Ligue 1.
Rami’s move to Milan, meanwhile, should signal the end of their pursuit of Manchester United’s Nemanja Vidic.
