Feyenoord Hope To Ward Off Arsenal Interest In Highly Rated Full-Back

Dutch side plan to open talks with Janmaat.

Eredivise giants Feyenoord are hoping to ward off interest from Arsenal in highly sought after full-back Daryl Janmaat by offering him a bumper new deal to keep him at the club, talkSPORT reports.

The 24-year-old has consistently been linked with a move to north London over the past year as Bacary Sagna’s contract situation continues to go unsolved as he edges nearer an exit on a free transfer next summer.

But Arsene Wenger would face stiff competition from Serie A should he decide to try and bring him on board, with Juventus believed to be among the Dutchman’s admirers.

However, Janmaat’s agent Karel Jansen claims the Dutch international is settled in Rotterdam and would be keen to extend his stay there beyond the end of his current deal, which expires in the summer of 2015.

He told ElfVoetbal.nl: “I’ve heard rumours that he is being watched by Italian clubs, but there is nothing concrete.

”We are open to discussions with Feyenoord for a contract renewal, it would be a nice show of appreciation from the club. I will see if this contact occurs to decide whether or not to continue with Feyenoord.”

Janmaat joined Feyenoord last summer from fellow Dutch side Heerenveen and went on to make 39 appearances scoring three goals during the previous campaign.
