Anfield side keen on Atletico Madrid youngster.
Liverpool are set to launch a £17m bid for highly rated Spanish midfielder Koke according to talkSPORT.
Brendan Rodgers is keen to bring in fresh central midfield options and has identified the 21 year old Atletico Madrid man as a potential addition though one wonders if the youngster would be interested in leaving the Vicente Calderon given the great strides the club has made under Diego Simeone over the past couple of years.
Atletico Madrid have started the La Liga season with eight straight wins and also competing in the Champions League and Simeone is unlikely to listen to offers for Koke, who is now a pivotal part of the club’s first team set-up.
Rodgers has brought in a number of new additions but crucially the lions share of the money invested in the signings of Kolo Toure, Luis Alberto, Iago Aspas and Simon Mignolet was offset by the sales of Andy Carroll and Jonjo Shevley to West Ham and Swansea City respectively and as such the club’s American owners are ready, willing and able to mount a big money bid for Koke.
Koke has made a total of 118 appearances for his hometown club and has three Spanish national team caps to his name and was part of the Spanish Under 21 national team that won the 2013 UEFA European Under-21 Football Championship.
