Arctic Monkeys forced to cancel performance by Kanye West.
Sheffield based rockers The Arctic Monkeys were forced to sit out of a guest performance on popular American talk show Jimmy Kimmel Live as rapper Kanye West overran his time slot and talked for a further 30 minutes than had been planned.
West, acclaimed and lauded in equal measure, was invited onto the show in order to clear up a Twitter spat between himself and Kimmel, who poked fun at him following his BBC Radio 1 interview with Zane Lowe last month.
The Monkeys are currently embarking on a tour to champions their latest release; AM, which was nominated for the Mercury Music Prize this year. The release of the album has resulted in a massive increase in demand for Arctic Monkeys tickets. The Sheffield band’s UK tour kicks off later this month.
The band will now re-schedule their appearance on the show for later in the year as they are now coming to the end of an American tour that will see them play at the Austin City Limits Festival in Texas and the Coronal Capital Festival in Mexico City before heading home to play the British leg of their world tour.
They will also make their way into mainland Europe before heading back to the United States in December.
