Serbian talks up Stamford Bridge return.

Check in to Chelsea vs Cardiff City

Benfica midfielder Nemanja Matic has done well to re-ignite his career after Chelsea deemed him surplus to requirements and offered his services as part of a deal that saw Brazilian international Ramires move to Stamford Bridge but now it seems that the Serb is open to a return to West London.

Inside Futbol quote the rangy playmaker as seemingly very keen to secure a move back to Chelsea with the 25 year old stating;

“To be honest I want to stay in Lisbon for another year. But of course, if someone like Jose Mourinho wants to bring me back to London, that would be a chance to prove that I can play in the Premier League,”

Carlo Ancelotti was the man who brought in Matic but the Italian was seemingly not all that impressed with the early performances by the 6ft 4in midfield powerhouse and handed him just three substitute appearances before sending him out on loan for a season at Eredivisie side Vitesse Arnhem.

Matic has gone to make a real impact at Benfica and had an excellent campaign last term during which he racked up 46 appearances in all competitions during a season that saw the Lisbon based side finish as runners up in the Primeira Liga, Taça de Portugal and the Europa League.
