Real Madrid midfielder Sami Khedira has fueled speculation that he could be set to leave the club after launching a scathing attack on the Spanish press in an interview with German magazine Kicker, according to talkSPORT.

The 26-year-old had been linked with several clubs during the summer transfer window, and it is thought that Premier League duo Chelsea and Manchester United were among them, and they may be set to move for him again after this recent development.

Khedira, who has been at Real Madrid since signing from Stuttgart in 2010, says he feels like a scapegoat at the club and undervalued for not being one of their big-money ‘Galactico’ purchases.

The German international also feels there may be resentment towards him for being one of the signings made by previous manager Jose Mourinho, now at Chelsea, who was highly unpopular with the media during his time in La Liga.

“I feel insulted by the Spanish press, I will never be one of their favourite sons,” Khedira said.

“I began the season on the bench and once again I’ve been made a scapegoat. They don’t value me, even when I play well.

“I’m not Spanish, I didn’t cost a lot and I’m a disciple of Mourinho.”

Khedira’s relationship with Mourinho could see the pair work together again when the transfer window re-opens in January, with Chelsea in particular need of a defensive midfielder of his kind.

Meanwhile, Real may also look to Chelsea for a Khedira replacement, as they are supposedly eyeing up a move for the Blues’ Brazilian star Ramires.
