Manchester United have been linked with a move for Juventus defender Stephan Lichtsteiner in the January transfer window, according to talkSPORT.

The 29-year-old could be surplus to requirements at the Serie A club, and this has attracted attention from the likes of Chelsea and Arsenal in recent times, though it is now believed that United will step up their interest when the transfer window re-opens.

The former Lazio and Lille right-back has been a key part of Antonio Conte’s side in their recent Serie A success, and United hope that a bid of around £10m could be enough to bring him to Old Trafford.

With Juve adopting a 3-5-2 formation under Conte, Lichtsteiner has often featured as a wing-back with greater freedom to go forward, and with Rafael Da Silva looking first choice for David Moyes’ side at the moment, it could be in midfield where the Swiss international is used if he moves to the Premier League.

Lichtsteiner is not the only Juventus player being linked with a move away this January, as Premier League trio Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham are all reportedly considering making a loan bid for unsettled Spanish striker Fernando Llorente.
