Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has confirmed that the future of striker Karim Benzema will be decided by coach Carlo Ancelotti, the Metro reports.

The French international was a reported target for Arsenal over the summer and have once again been inked with a move to the Emirates in a cut price £20m deal in January.

Perez is a self confessed fan of the 25-year-old, but says that Ancelotti, who recently criticised the player’s performances, is the man who will decide whether he stays or goes before the end of the season.

“I have faith in all the players in our squad,” Perez said. “Karim is a great player and we get offers for him all the time, every summer.

“All I can say is that the coach is the one who has the authority to do what he believes is right.”

The Bernabeu chief also confessed that Madrid could launch a summer move for Monaco striker Radamel Falaco, who was once of city rivals Atletico, and who has also been linked with Chelsea.

“He won’t come in January but in June, who knows?” Perez added. “Nothing is impossible and there is a lot of time between now and then.

“Falcao is a great player and I am aware that he wants to play for [Real] Madrid. I am aware of that, but it’s normal.”

Benzema joined Madrid from French giants Lyon back in 2009 and has gone on to score 91 goals in 193 appearances for the club in that time.
