Emirates Stadium side look to pull off a second bid money Bernabeu raid.
Football agent Francois Gallardo claims that Arsenal are to make a bid in the region of £38m – £43m for Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema during the January transfer window Sports Direct News reports.
Real Madrid may well be forced to consider such an offer as they look to finance a move to bring in either AS Monaco frontman Radamel Falcao or Liverpool forward Luis Suarez, both of whom will cost huge sums to lure to the Bernabeu.
Carlo Ancelotti may well feel that both these targets would be far more effective than Benzema in terms of leading his Real Madrid attack, an assumption that is all the more clearer after the French international’s troubled start to the current campaign.
The 25 year old has netted just two goals in eight La Liga starts this season and has become the subject of abuse from a section of the Real Madrid support.
Arsene Wenger is known to be a long term admirer of the powerful forward, tracking Benzema since he first burst onto the scene at Lyon, and having smashed the North London club’s transfer record to sign German playmaker Mesut Ozil the Gunners boss may be willing to once again splash the cash to help bring in fresh striking options to the Emirates Stadium where currently Arsenal overly rely on Olivier Giroud.
