Arsene Wenger is reportedly in early stage talks with Lazio veteran Miroslav Klose over a possible move to sign the German international on a short term deal.

CaughtOffside understands that Arsenal have received encouragement from the 35 year old’s representatives who have been looking to gauge interest in their client from Premier League sides with Klose said to be interested in a move to the English top tier.

Though Wenger is not known for signing aging players he is apparently open to bringing in Klose to strengthen his Gunners attack and is also ready to offer an 18 month contract in January, which goes against his usual policy of only offering one year deals for those over the age of 30.

The Arsenal boss is more than aware that he is heavily reliant on French forward Olivier Giroud to lead the line up front, especially with Lukas Podolski and Theo Walcott being used chiefly in wide attacking roles and Wenger believes that Klose can offer a strong back-up option.

The experienced Polish born forward has proved a big success since moving to Lazio, scoring 28 goals in 60 Serie A appearances, but now into his third season at the Stadio Olimpico Klose is now said to be looking for a fresh challenge and a move to join Arsenal is apparently one that he is open to considering.

The chance to play alongside national team colleagues Lukas Podolski and Per Mertesacker may well also help to persuade Klose to make the move to the Emirates Stadium.
