Chelsea are set to bank a handy windfall as Juventus and Livorno have been order to pay £18m in compensation in relation to Adrian Mutu’s move to Italy back in 2005 according to the Daily Mirror.

Romanian international Mutu moved to Italy in January 2005 after Chelsea sacked the player for failing a drug test the previous October they then argued that they deserved a fee for the forward’s services, an argument that FIFA has endorsed.

The 34 year old currently plays for Ligue 1 side Ajaccio following eight seasons in Italy with Juventus, Fiorentina and Cesena and one would imagine that the player will be forced to contribute to any compensation payment should Juventus and Livorno fail to have the decision overturned by the Court of Arbitration.
