Veteran former Chelsea midfield player Yossi Benayoun is on the verge of signing for high-flying Championship side Queens Park Rangers on a free transfer, according to exclusive reports on talkSPORT.co.uk.

The experienced Israel international has been training of late with Maccabi Haifa back in his homeland after being released by the Blues at the end of last season and then failing to secure a deal with a new club for this campaign over the summer.

Benayoun reportedly had several offers from both a number of Premier League and Championship outfits, including the likes of newly promoted Crystal Palace and West Bromwich Albion, as well as from clubs on the Continent, such as La Liga’s Getafe and Greek giants Olympiacos.

However, the 33-year-old turned those down and now looks like taking up the chance to join QPR head coach Harry Redknapp at Loftus Road on a two-year contract.

And the wide man will bring great knowledge with him to west London after having represented the likes of West Ham United, Liverpool and Arsenal during his eight years spent in the Premier League, during which time Benayoun has managed to find the back of the net on 44 occasions in total in his 512 matches in all competitions.
