Stamford Bridge side keen on French international.
Chelsea are reportedly planning a hopeful move to lure PSG midfielder Blaise Matuidi to Stamford Bridge according to Sports Direct News.
The 24 year old French international is out of contract at the end of the season and has resisted calls to put pen to paper on a new deal leaving the tough tackler vulnerable to advances in January, when the former Saint-Etienne man can sign a pre-contract deal ahead of a potential free transfer move next summer.
Jose Mourinho may well feel that Matuidi would offer a fresh dimension to his Blues midfield and the adaptable performer is well able to get stuck in but is also adept at pushing forward to make an impact in the final third when necessary.
Man City are also said to be monitoring Matuidi’s situation and Chelsea will be keen to beat their Premier League rivals to sign the PSG man.
Mourinho may feel that Matuidi offers more than the likes of John Obi Mikel or Micheal Essien and this source claims that the Toulouse born midfielder may have had his head turned by interest from the Premier League.
Matuidi spent four seasons at Saint-Etienne before moving to the Parc des Princes in July 2011, brought in to replace former Chelsea man Claude Makelele at PSG, and has made 99 appearances for the big spending Ligue 1 side helping the club to a domestic title last term.
