Stamford Bridge side said to be one of two clubs who may be negotiating with Real Madrid to sign French forward Karim Benzema.
The Daily Express are today reporting that an unnamed English side is in talks with Real Madrid to sign striker Karim Benzema.
This source believes that the club in question is either Chelsea or Arsenal, both of whom have been strongly linked with interest in the 25 year old French international.
A £42m bid is apparently set to be made by the reported club and if such an offer is made it seems highly likely that the Bernabeu side would accept the amount fairly swiftly.
The 25 year old has suffered a fair amount of abuse from the Bernabeu faithful this term and has had an up and down time of it ever since moving from Lyon to the Spanish giants back in 2009.
Thus far this term two goals in eight La Liga fixtures is a return that may well mean Benzema’s future at Real Madrid is even more tenuous and a move to Stamford Bridge may well tempt the French international.
Benzema has scored 91 goals in 193 appearances for Real Madrid and could well be the man to boost the Blues attack with Mourinho certainly likely to be looking to bring in a forward given that his current quartet of Demba Ba, Andre Schurrle, Fernando Torres and Samuel Eto’o have managed just one Premier League goal between them this season.
