Big-spending PSG could be set to renew their interest in unsettled Chelsea star Juan Mata this January, according to reports in the Telegraph.

The Spanish international has been linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge several times in the last few months following a difficult start to the season under new manager Jose Mourinho.

Despite playing a key role for the Blues in the last two seasons, Mata was dropped from the starting lineup by Mourinho this season and looked to have fallen out of favour at the club.

With the World Cup in Brazil approaching at the end of the season, the former Valencia man has been keen to remain a regular for his club in order to ensure his place in Spain’s national squad.

PSG showed a strong interest in Mata before the end of the summer transfer window, as did many other top clubs, and they are keen to try again for the 25-year-old when the transfer window re-opens in January.

The mega-rich Ligue 1 giants have plenty of money at their disposal, and could add Mata to the list of recent big-name purchases such as Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Edinson Cavani, as they look to build a team that can compete with the best in Europe.
