Liverpool are said to have taken an interest in Atletico Madrid striker Adrian with Brendan Rodgers keen to strengthen his attack with a move for the Spanish international according to TuttoMercato.

The 25 year old has played a bit part role thus far this season, making just five substitute appearances in La Liga, with the likes of Diego Costa and David Villa leading the line in Diego Simeone’s starting eleven.

Adrian is also being courted by Ligue 1 big spenders AS Monaco and Newcastle United and may well be keen to leave the Vicente Calderon in view of his limited role in Atletico Madrid’s first team set-up.

Liverpool have scored at a healthy rate thus far this season though perhaps Rodgers is planning ahead to the possibility that Luis Suarez will once again push for an Anfield exit.

Thus far Suarez and Daniel Sturridge has scored 14 of Liverpool’s 17 Premier League goals thus far this season.

Adrian would presumably not be all that keen on the prospect of swapping one bench for another so his potential interest in a move to the Merseyside club could well be tied into any move to replace Uruguayan international Suarez.

The former Deportivo La Coruna man netted 18 goals in his first season at Atletico Madrid but managed just four last term.
