Big-spending top-flight giants will now attempt to sign Malaga’s No 1 in January to replace the out-of-form Three Lions custodian.

Check in to Newcastle United vs Manchester City

Manchester City head coach Manuel Pellegrini has decided to drop under-fire goalkeeper Joe Hart following the Englishman’s latest costly blunder against Chelsea on Sunday afternoon, according to reports in the Daily Mirror.

The experienced Chilean will promote backup shot-stopper Costel Pantilimon to the first team for City’s Capital One Cup fourth-round tie against Newcastle United at St James’ Park on Wednesday night, and if the Romania international impresses for the Blues in the north east, then he will keep his place in between the sticks ahead of Hart for Saturday’s Premier League encounter with Norwich City at Eastlands.

The England No 1 made the latest in a long line of gaffes against the west London club in the Premier League on the weekend to gift front man Fernando Torres a last-minute winner at Stamford Bridge.

Hart’s error was the ninth that he has made so far under Pellegrini in this campaign after costly mistakes had also resulted in goals being conceded against the likes of Cardiff City, Aston Villa and Bayern Munich, while the 26-year-old was also at fault for a goal in a friendly international against Scotland at Wembley Stadium in August.
