Inter Milan and Galatasaray also interested in exciting midfielder.Arsenal are one of three main teams chasing the possible signing of Japanese youngster Yoichiro Kakitani this January, according to talkSPORT.

Inter Milan and Galatasaray are also contenders for his signature, as the 23-year-old midfielder continues to impress in the J-League with Cerezo Osaka this season.

Kakitani has scored an impressive 17 goals from the middle of the park this term, and looks like a player ready to make the step up to European football.

Arsenal have previously signed the likes of Junichi Inamoto and current attacking midfielder Ryo Miyaichi from Japan, and manager Arsene Wenger has also spent time managing there with Grampus Eight before taking charge of the Gunners.

The north London side have also been linked with CSKA Moscow star Keisude Honda in recent times, one of the biggest names of Japanese football, though he seems set to move to Serie A this January with AC Milan.

Kakitani could be a useful option for Arsenal as they look to add depth to their squad, which looks somewhat thin at the moment, though they are still missing Theo Walcott and Lukas Podolski through injury.

Kakitani has three goals in five caps for the senior Japanese national team.
