Swansea City are hoping to secure a loan deal for Manchester United forward Wilfried Zaha in the January transfer window, ClubCall reports.

The England under-21 international has struggled to get a look in at Old Trafford since completing his £15m move from Crystal Palace over the summer and has since made just two appearances, with the first coming in the side’s Community Shield win over Wigan Athletic in August, and the second coming against Norwich in the Capital One Cup this week.

David Moyes has admitted that a short-term loan deal elsewhere could do him the world of good in terms of confidence and the player is believed to have been watched by both Stoke and Newcastle.

However, it is now Swansea who are believed to be the most interested as they look to bolster their ranks as they remain competitive in the Europa League this term.

“I just don’t think we have had the right opportunity to get him on as much as would have liked,” said Moyes.

“We don’t want to put him in too quickly. We want to make it the right time.

“I’ve said I would look at in January as I wanted to have him here for six months to see how we work.

“It’s not that Wilf has done anything wrong, it’s just that we have big competition and we have to try to make sure he gets some playing time.

“Unfortunately, we haven’t done that with Wilf and, if it’s still the case in January, we would look at it. But he is very much in my plans and in my thoughts all the time.”
