Mega-rich Premier League outfit Manchester City suffered yet another injury setback on Wednesday night when recent new big-money signing Stevan Jovetic picked up a calf strain against Newcastle United, according to reports in the Daily Mail.

The highly-rated Montenegro international was handed a rare start by new City head coach Manuel Pellegrini for the north-west giants’ trip to take on the Magpies at St James’ Park in the Capital One Cup fourth round.

However, Jovetic lasted all of ten minutes before being forced to leave the contest with a calf injury to further compound what has already been a tough start to his career at Eastlands.

The 23-year-old arrived at City last July from Serie A outfit Fiorentina on a five-year deal for a whopping fee of £22m, however, it is fair to say that the striker’s debut campaign in England has so far not gone quite according to plan.

And that is because Pellegrini has tended to favour operating with just a lone centre forward when away from home, with that player being Sergio Aguero, while at the Etihad stadium the experienced Chilean has opted to play with two attackers, although it has either been Edin Dzeko or new man Alvaro Negredo who have been selected to partner the in-form Argentina international.
