Newly promoted Premier League outfit Cardiff City are interested in taking out-of-favour Manchester United wide man Wilfried Zaha on a six-month loan deal when the winter transfer window opens again for business in the new year, according to reports in the Daily Mail.

The England international has only been with the Premier League champions now since last January, when Zaha joined the Red Devils from then Championship side Crystal Palace on a five-year deal for a transfer fee that could eventually rise to as much as £15 million.

However, having then been loaned straight back to the south London club by previous United head coach Sir Alex Ferguson in order to aid the Eagles’ bid to win promotion to the Premier League, Zaha then found himself working for a new manager in David Moyes when he did finally join up with his new team-mates last summer.

And despite playing the first hour of United’s season curtain-raiser against FA Cup holders Wigan Athletic at Wembley Stadium in the FA Community Shield in August, the only other involvement with the first team that the 20-year-old has had so far came just this week in United’s Capital One Cup fourth-round clash with Norwich City at Old Trafford.

As such, a whole host of top-flight clubs are understood to be competing for the winger’s signature in January, with the Bluebirds likely to face competition for Zaha from the likes of Swansea City, West Bromwich Albion and Stoke City.
