Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has been given the all clear to draw up possible targets as he seeks to strengthen his Blues attack in the January transfer window according to the Daily Mail.

Mourinho has seen his quartet of striking options struggle this term with Demba Ba, Fernando Torres, Samuel Eto’o and Andre Schurrle scoring just three Premier League goals between them and as such the West London club’s title hopes have been dented leaving the Portuguese boss keen to spend when the transfer window re-opens.

This source claims that Mourinho will primarily look at striking options who are not cup tied from Champions League involvement which will certainly limit Chelsea’s search, with Liverpool’s Luis Suarez being high up on the club’s wish-list.

Chelsea currently sit in second spot in the table, some five points off Arsenal but have been outscored by the Gunners as well as Liverpool, Man United and Man City.

Mourinho may well regret his decision to loan out Romelu Lukaku to Everton for the 2013/14 season as the Belgian has already racked up five goals in five Premier League appearances this season.
