Chelsea are reportedly ready to challenge Bayern Munich in the pursuit of Man City striker Sergio Aguero according to TuttoMercato.

The West London side are being linked with a stunning €50m (£42m) bid for the in-form Argentine as Jose Mourinho looks to address his stuttering Stamford Bridge strike-force.

Mourinho’s current quartet of strikers, Demba Ba, Samuel Eto’o, Fernando Torres and Andre Schurrle have scored just three Premier League goals between them this year, indeed loaned out Belgian Romelu Lukaku has outscored them by managing five in five appearances for Everton.

Pep Guardiola is apparently keen on bringing 25 year old Aguero to the Allianz Arena but Mourinho may have other ideas though one wonders if Man City would consider any offers for such a pivotal player, especially one who has only recently been tied down to a long term contract.

The former Atletico Madrid man has been a massive success since making his £38m move to the Etihad Stadium back in July 2011, famously netting the injury time winner over QPR that handed the club the Premier League title.

Aguero has netted 11 goals in 12 games this season and a healthy total of 58 goals in 100 appearances for the big spending Premier League side.
