Rudi Garcia to rival Wenger for Newcastle man.
Serie A giants Roma are lining up a January bid to rival Arsenal for Newcastle United midfielder Yohan Cabaye, the Daily Star reports.
The France international was deeply unsettled over the summer thanks to an enquiry from the Gunners that came in less than 24 hours before Newcastle’s opening game of the season against Manchester City.
However, his future with the club still remains uncertain even though he has now be reintegrated back into the starting XI after being left out for a prolonged period for having his head turned by Arsenal’s offer.
Reports in Italy have suggested that Roma coach Rudi Garcia, who coached Cabaye during their time together at Lille is eager to reunite with him in Italy by offering him the chance of success at the Stadio Olympico.
Wenger quickly turned his attentions elsewhere after failing to land the 27-year-old by splashing out £42.5m on Real Madrid playmaker Mesut Ozil, but he is still thought to be a fan of the player and will look to spend some of his leftover money on bringing him down to the Emirates in the new year.
